Rites For James Rupp Are Set For Wednesday
Funeral services for James Rupp, 74, pioneer and former Elm Grove township farmer, will be held at the Kuecks chapel at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in the Woodrow cemetery at South Pekin and friends may call at the funeral home until time of services. Mr. Rupp, who for the past 20 years had been an employe of the North Western railroad, died at 8:15 p.m. Sunday at his home, following two months illness caused by a stroke. He had lived in South Pekin for the past 25 years. He was born in Elm Grove township May 6, 1867, a son of  Christian and Elizabeth Weinburner Rupp. His marriage to Alice Meskimer took place at Bloomington. Surviving besides the wife are seven daughters, Mrs. Dolly Kitson, Adrian, Mich; Mrs. Ida Irmeyer, Groveland; Mrs. Gladys Cameron, Mrs. Lena Haushahn, Mrs. Irene Johnson and Mrs. Hazel Seward, all of Chillicothe, and Mrs. Florence Johnston, Marcelin, Mo; five sons, Grover, Allen and Orville, all of Pekin, and Dewey and Archie, both of South Pekin; two brothers, John and Bill, both of Peoria; a sister, Mrs. Kate Gainer, Pekin; 20 grandchildren and several half brothers and half sisters.
