Edward J Reuling died shortly after 7 o’clock this morning at his home 312 South Fourth street. Mr Reuling had been ill health for some time, and last Thursday was seized with an attack of pneumonia. For a robust man, it would not have been a severe attack, but in his already weakened condition, Mr. Reuling could not withstand the ravages of the disease, and despite everything that could be done for him, he passed away this morning. Two nurses were constantly in attendance, but the case was hopeless on account of the patient’s lack of vitality. He was suffering from Bright’s disease for a year or so before he was stricken with his fatal ailment.

He was born in this city on October 9, 1859, and all hi life was spent here.. He was the son of Nicholas Reuling who founded the dry goods firm which bears the family name, and Edward early became associated with his father in the business. He and his brothers, Louis and George, took full charge of the business a few years ago when Nicholas Reuling retired on account of old age and failing health. Mr. Reuling was a man who claimed the friendship of all who knew him, and Pekin loses one of her best citizens.
His marriage to Miss Mina C. Winkel took place in this city on March 18, 1891. The couple had no children. The wife is left surviving, together with two brothers, George and Louis N. Reuling, and one sister, Mrs. Henry M. Ehrlicher.
